Make chicken curry at home
Here's a simple recipe for chicken curry:
Ingredients:
- 1 kg chicken, cut into pieces
- 2 onions, finely chopped
- 2 tomatoes, chopped
- 3 cloves of garlic, minced
- 1-inch piece of ginger, grated
- 2 green chilies, slit
- 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
- 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 2 teaspoons coriander powder
- 1 teaspoon chili powder (adjust according to your spice preference)
- 1 teaspoon garam masala powder
- Salt to taste
- Cooking oil
- Fresh coriander leaves for garnish
Instructions:
1. Heat oil in a large pan or skillet. Add cumin seeds and let them splutter.
2. Add chopped onions and sauté until golden brown.
3. Add minced garlic, grated ginger, and slit green chilies. Sauté for a couple of minutes until fragrant.
4. Add chopped tomatoes and cook until they turn mushy.
5. Add turmeric powder, coriander powder, chili powder, and salt. Mix well and cook for a minute.
6. Add the chicken pieces to the pan and coat them well with the masala.
7. Cover and cook the chicken on medium heat until it's cooked through, stirring occasionally. This usually takes about 20-25 minutes.
8. Once the chicken is cooked, add garam masala powder and mix well.
9. Garnish with fresh coriander leaves.
10. Serve hot with rice or naan.
